Home Sweet Home

Hello Family and Friends,

Sorry that you have been waiting all day to hear from us. We spoke with the Cardio lady around 10am. According to the X-ray the balloon only helped a little, but won't be enough. I don't think that they did ever talked to Dr. Ohye today-his name wasn't mentioned. But they will be scheduling another surgery in 4-6 weeks. We were released from the hospital and headed home.

We were certainly hoping that we wouldn't have to be doing this for at least a couple years, but the universe has different plans for Max. We did see a couple of families that were there the first time so at least we have been home for the past couple of months with our little guy.

We stopped and picked up Grandma P. in Ionia and got home about 12:30 pm. Grandma took care of Max while John and I slept. Any of you that know me know that I need my sleep to function. The total hour of sleep i got last night just doesn't allow me to function in the least!!

Anyway, back to Max. They will have to completely replace the conduit and repair his artery at the connection. We asked about the Truncal Valve being repaired a the same time and she didn't know anything about that. I'm curious to actually hear Dr. Ohye's plans. The surgery will entail opening Max's chest all the way open again! I was really hoping that somehow they wouldn't have to do that-no such luck ):. Literature I read said the healing process should be quicker with each surgery but I think that was assuming he would be closer to 2yrs of age. I am not looking forward to any of it that is for sure!! Especially after I stay last night.

This is where we are right now. It totally sucks but we have to get Max better as soon as we can. The whole situation is so disappointing. Max has been doing so well and gaining weight steadily. He wasn't having any kind of symptoms what so ever.

I know I haven't ever posted on the blog-I just get too emotional and overwhelmed whenever i read it. I want to thank everyone for all your prayers for Max. they certainaly have worked to help pull him through all this!! We love everyone very much and couldn't have made it through all of this without your support.

I have to start back to work next week so I will spend the rest of the week holding my baby close to me!!!

Love Always,

  1. Michele, you are always in our prayers, I get emotional reading the blog as I know this is one of the worst things a parent must endure. My heart goes out to you. God will pull you all through this and we will be praying daily that all of this is a success for you,John and Max.
I read this as often as I can. Lots of Love & Prayers, Jamie & Liliana

  2. Michele,

I can't begin to imagine what you and John are going through, no being able to much for Max but to hold him and love him. You waited so long to have him and he is a gift from God for sure!! I know it's hard but you have to trust God is in control and He is watching over you all. It's so hard as a parent to see your child suffer and not be able to do anything to help, but Max is a lucky child because with all the family and friends who love him, prayers are being sent all over the world. I asked friends from other countries to pray as well as my church family here. Prayers work miracles. Max looks so good and healthy and it is a good sign! Will pray for the upcoming surgery, by then God will be tired of hearing all the prayers He will make sure it works right this time . : ) We love you all.

  3. Michele, John and sweet baby Maximus,

We are thinking about you all and praying. God will be with you and he'll pick you up when you think you can no longer carry on! I can't imagine what you all are going through. We LOVE YOU ALL VERY VERY MUCH!!! If you need anything we are just a phone call away. I know we haven't been to see you, but between the kids and us all getting sick we didn't want to pass anything your way. Jeffrey had pneumonia and then some sinus infection. Even though we haven't been to see you we think about you all the time!!! You two are great parents and Maximus couldn't ask for two better parents to call his own! God knew what he was doing when he gave you your precious baby boy!! We love you all and will continue to keep the prayers coming your way! Love you and yours!!!
Mike, Millie, Jeffrey and Shelby King :-)

  4. Oh Michele...I'm so sorry that your family has to go through this again...my heart just breaks for that little guy!! You are always in my prayers and on my mind.....

    Love ya,

  5. John, Michele and Max, I am thinking of you and praying for the strength to get you through this once again. You are wonderful parents and he is one lucky little guy. I am so sorry to hear about needing this surgery again so soon. We will all continue with the prayers. Take care and yes Michele you certainly require more than an hour of sleep. I will hope that more sleep comes your way as well. Bonnie Simon

  6. John, Michele, and Max, My prayers are with you to help you through this time. I know it is hard but lots and lots and lots of prayers are coming your way. Things will get better for you guys. Oue little Raelynne spent 112 days in the hospital to start and now she is almost 4. So with prayer and faith amazing things DO happen, so keep the faith....God is Good.

  7. Dear Michele and John,

I know I haven't written lately but little Max and both of you have still been in my prayers. I see that Max has to have more surgery, not what you wanted to hear. At least you have had him home for a time and he is doing so well. God is watching over him and will wrap him in His arms through all of this. Sorry you have to go through all of this. My heart goes out to all of you. I will keep you in my prayers and will call you soon. Hope to get over to see you when Jeri gets back which should be this week or next. Hang in there! God bless and be with you and give you the strength you need. Peace. Jan Ignatoski :)
